Easy to follow and apply.

I bought this book while it is on kindle promotion.

As the author of a set of parenting ebooks myself, it's been refreshing to read this book. Iovana gives clear and concise examples throughout this book and I felt myself agreeing completely with most of what she has written. She has made it easy for any parent to recognise where he or she can improve his or her parenting skills.

The book is a short and comfortable read and I suggest, that for this reason, parents read through this book every now and again to solidify the skills offered here. I will go as far as to say that, if you follow the advice offered in this book and you don't feel you are getting results, it will only be because you haven't been able to be consistent enough. Hang in there it is more that worth it.

It's really hard to rise discipline child this time. Especially, if you have not any proven strategy or system how to do it. This parenting book provides a great examples, that can help you build this system. You will find, that it's really simple to raise autonomous and cooperative children, that will love you and will be thankful in the future.

A Must Read Guide for Parenting

My husband recommended me this book because sometime I get overwhelmed while dealing with my 3 kids who are all under 9.

1. Do you unintentionally attach label to your kids which dictates their behavior, actions, thinking, emotions, etc?
2. Do you want to learn an eye-opening focus on the common and harmful ways parents talk to and disciple their little ones?
3. Do you want to know what could be your alternatives to yelling and punishment?

Well then this is the book that answers all your concerns in effective and efficient manner. My favorite part of the book is 20 rules that parents need to follow for loving and gentle authority.

This book helped me develop some strong insights and confidence with its ready implement suggestions while dealing with many known situations as a mother of three I have to face on daily basis.

Thank you Iovana for writing this short and sweet book, it helped :)

About the Author
Steven M. Freund attended the University of Central Florida and serves as a leader instructor of various Microsoft Office, computer concepts, programming, and Internet technology courses throughout Central Florida. An integral author for the successful Shelly Cashman Series since 2001, he has presented at the annual customer conference, the Shelly Cashman Series Institute, as well as other customer events. Mr. Freund has co-authored multiple editions of DISCOVERING COMPUTERS, Mozilla Firefox, Windows Internet Explorer, Windows, Office, and Dreamweaver books. He has also written numerous successful instructor supplements.

Mali B. Jones has more than 20 years of editorial, instructional and support experience in the field of computer and information technology. She has been associated with the Shelly Cashman Series for nearly 10 years, providing editorial, authoring, and product management services.

Joy L. Starks is a Professor of Computer and Information Technology at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. Very hard to use.

The e-book is not useable; to find something, you have to search, and find the page number(s); then you have to go to the actual page (and page numbers don't match the acual page number), and look at things one by one.

I am really glad that I took advantage of the free trial.

From the Kindle view, the paper copy might work better.

Great summary of a lot of history

This book is not the typical tedious history of great detail about important events which changed the world. Few of the battles take more than a few pages. It covers, as the title says, seiges from Jerico to Sarajevo. While there are some of the more savage ones missing, such as when a Mongol army commanded by Tolui, son of Genghis Khan, besieged Merv in February 1221. Its peaceful surrender was followed by the the beheading of hundreds of thousands of residents, according to most Islamic historians, with each of the Khan's soldiers obligated to chop off the heads of at least 300 men, women, and children. Some put the death toll over 500,000.
But this is still a very interesting book and well worth having on any shelf as a quick reference of history-changing battles. Each battle analysis includes the long or short term impact of the event.

After reading about Charles Martell and the Battle of Tours, I was directed to this book by Paul Davis. Mr. Davis is a Military Historian who can detail the event and make it come alive. I have read 4 of his books now and I am impressed with his knowledge and his reasoning.

Less than mediocre...

From the back cover:
Wearing the rare, priceless Levantsky diamonds is Anna Delane's most prestigious modeling assignment. But when the precious gems go missing, Anna is at the mercy of Greek tycoon Leo Makarios... Leo believes that Anna is a common thief. He will do anything to get his jewels back! He has a plan : as the sun sets Anna will become hi, and as it rises she'll be free to go. By then, her debt will have been repaid!

My take:
Again, back covers can be misleading. Anna's friend and fellow model stol some of the jewels because she desperately needed money. Anna discovered her and in the process of returning the jewels is discovered by Leo. She's given a choice: jail and a ruined career or spending her nights with him for an indefinite period of time. I didn't find either of the characters very relatable. Anna is a high fashion model with a serious attitude and Leo literally blackmailed her into his bed to do his bidding. The way it's written is a little too close to rape for me. And of course, despite her great reluctance at sharing his bed, she finds fantastic pleasure when she's with him. By the end, she's transformed from a woman in control who has her own career to a simpering, bedside wailing girl content to allow Leo to provide for her.

it was a good book, but I thought the second book was better (Marcos story). I recommend both books. I give this book three and half stars, and the secnd book four and half stars.

The best introduction to Jung's work?

This is one of 2 books Jung was working on in the last few years before he died. I think of it as a really terrific summary of, as well as a great introduction to, his life's work.

One can not really understand Jung without knowing what he believed about symbols, dreams, and consciousness itself. So here's the book for that.
Having read a number of other Jung texts before reading this one, it seems to me this one was really an effort by the great doctor to make his work as widely accessible to readers as possible. The text is easy without giving up anything in its ultimate value. It is an interesting and enjoyable read.

The book has many great illustrations of symbols throughout along with articles by several prominent 'Jungian' scholars of the time.

I have always been interested in Jung's works, even though I don't agree with all of it. I bought this book because I wanted to re-read his thoughts on the Anima, the Woman Within each man. I particularly like his different stages of development for the Anima. During a recent fast I felt, for about one hour, my own sexuality change temporarily. It was very clean, healthy, and respectful, and I wonder if that corresponds to Jung's second stage of Anima development. I believe that the Anima is in fact a warrior for God/The Universe, but perhaps future people will have to elaborate upon that concept. If you like Jung definitely check out this book. I also want to read his book, "Modern Man in Search of a Soul", I think is the title.

A Solid Introduction to Archetypes and the Unconscious Mind

Man and His Symbols is a collaborative work between legendary psychologist Carl Jung and four of his associates. Within this book his associates seek to step down many of his complex topics so as to be accessible to the reader who is not specialized in psychology, the unconscious mind, and archetypes. This was the final work Carl Jung had undertaken prior to his death.

One of the greatest insights I had received from this book is that such activities as dream analysis are not concrete activities. There are not any hard and fast rules for performing this type of activity. Dreams vary by the individual and may take years of work to unravel their meaning. Such analysis requires a deeper intuitive understanding of human nature, the unconscious mind, archetypes, and symbolism.

Overall this is a great book to become acquainted with symbology and the inner workings of the unconscious mind. Even though Man and His Symbols does serve its purpose as an introductory text, it is far from basic. Even with the attempt to step down Carl Jung’s work by his associates, there is much complexity within this book which will require several readings in order to pierce through the underlying meaning. Also, Man and His Symbols will continue to serve as a useful reference for archetypes and symbols in general well past the first reading.
