About the Author
Kelly Ward, aka The Fall Prevention Lady, is a certified FallProof™ balance and mobility specialist who has been teaching fall prevention classes in the Sacramento region for over five years. Kelly recently achieved a special designed Master of Science in Therapeutic Aging from California State University, Sacramento and has been working with older adults since her undergraduate degree studies in Public Health from West Chester University in 1993. A respected Fall Prevention Consultant, Kelly has experience working with public, private and non-profit companies and numerous community churches in Northern California and made guest appearances on two local cable television shows, “A-Z with Bea” and “Growing Older” with Dr. Moria Fordycke. She is an active member of the Northern California Fall Prevention Coalition and is a community member of the Sacramento County Adult and Aging Commission. Kelly’s mission is to educate, demonstrate and facilitate the adaptation of a reduced fall risk lifestyle. She uses a scientific approach to improve the quality of daily living. As good and bad as the others around

This book is as good as the other, less expensive books on the subject. However, they all seem to have the same flaw: lack of information on how to fall. This book asserts that there are no such techniques. Wrong. A few weeks ago, I tripped on something and started to fall forwards. Fifty years ago I took a class in judo and learned how to fall. I am amazed that I instintively went into a forward judo roll, i.e., tucked my chin in, landed lightly on the top of my back and wound up standing straight up again. Perhaps I was just lucky, since I am not in good condition. But there clearly are ways to fall without hurting one's self. The author refers to specialists of some sort that can teach one
some techniques, but does not say who these people are.
If you are fit enough, learn some judo. Forget tai chi, as so many recommend. Why aren't there gentle judo classes for seniors?
